I am what you might call a 'Horse Scout'
That’s short-form for ‘a concierge-level sourcing and purchasing consultant for the equestrian arts’
Although I’ve been a participant in international jumping events for the last two decades, and have trained horses that have gone to the very top of their field (both hunters & jumpers), in the last two years I’ve transitioned to ‘sourcing talent’ for my international clients.
It’s been said that my Unique Value Proposition rests on the fact that I’ve spanned the industry from sportsman to professional trainer, with cross-over into breeding, procurement, and brokering.
This allows me to pull from a wide-swath of practical knowledge to place the right horse with the right client in a manner that is hard to emulate without that breadth of experience.
Another differentiator is my absolute unwillingness to progress with a deal if something seems amiss. This, in fact, was the basis for my decision to move from Wellington to the Netherlands, as it allowed me to be more deliberately engaged in the process.
I’d have to say this level of care is not so common in the industry - under-serving both the rider and the horse!
If you know anyone who might benefit from these unique insights and skill sets, please let them know so I may be of service.
And if I can assist you in any capacity, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I judge Hunters on their style and movement, conformation (when needed), and overall picture. They need to have excellent manners, an efficient and comfortable gait, and a good, safe jumping style. I always say Hunters represent the more artistic side of the industry. A good Hunter necessitates a very detailed, artistic performance in all regards.
You could say Jumpers are the “spills-and-thrills” side of the industry, requiring boldness and athleticism in both horse and rider. Though I do like to look for an elegance in my Jumpers, the fact is the fastest, clean round always wins–regardless of style. This means assessing temperament for refusals, runouts, rails down, falls and speed, in addition to all physical criteria.
